5K Ignition Switch

Too bad you didn't find my thread from several yrs.
ago. I went throught the same problems. Same results
after replacing electrical portion. As the injectors
and other things get old and cranking times increase,
people turn the key HARDER I guess thinking this will
make it start. Like talking louder in a foreign
country so they'll understand you. Anyway, the little
metal tab that actually connects the key to the
electric portion is twisted, kind of like a candy cane
or barber pole. You should see it right away when you
open it again. Take some solid pliers and CAREFULLY
twist it back. It doesn't need to go much. Mine has
worked fine ever since, and I'm pretty aware of how
hard I turn the key now. Good luck and hope this
helps. BTW, was the small inner collar of your
electric switch cracked and split away? Mine have
been on every car.
