still no spark

top of the exhaust stroke, cam gear should not "line up" - should be off
by 180 deg.

good, though it should be closer than 1 cm.  more like 1 mm or so.

So the distributor is out by 180 degrees.

Basic 4 cycle engine mechanics

Either pull the dist. and reinsert or turn housing.
