In SCCA Solo 2, in Street Prep, many racers use the smallest
diameter rims/tires that will fit their brakes (SP rules do
NOT allow brake mods other than flex lines and pad/shoe material),
to get gearing weight advantages. So, when availible, you see
(mostly Civics/CRX's) running 13 x 7's and usually Hoosier Autocrossers.
A1 Golfs and early A2 Golfs also tend to run those sizes in SP. In stock, y=
ou MUST run the same size/offset rim as supplied stock with the car, tire s=
ize is open, as long as it fits within the wheel well. Once you go to the h=
igher (prep/mod) classes, rim sizes are limited by specification (best gues=
s is it's based on weight and ability of the car, VERY similar to ITS sizes=
, but generally a bit wider.)
