'89 Audi 200TQ Steering Rack

Before I go broke buying Pentosin I nee to replace my steering rack, I am
doing some research and it seem that you can get the whole steering wrack or a
half section, what do they mean by that?  Can anyone give me some tips on this
job?  Should I attempt it myself?  How many hours are we talking labor is I
have my mechanic do it.  Thanks all.
