Got to go and pick up my car yesterday - about 400 km drive home with about
100km of very twisty, and mountainous (some 18% grades) country.
BEEAAOOOTIFUL DRIVE!
Played a bit with my friend in his 2002 Accord who gave me a ride down(left
him behind coming out of some corners. I think he was duly impressed ..heh
heh)
Car ran flawlessly, but definitely needs a rear wheel bearing - not a
problem as I have BTDT with my 86 5ktq sedan. (biggest lesson I learned was
that just because a shop has a press, doesn't mean they know how to use it -
the guy ended up buying me a new bearing)
The worst part of the trip was that I realized just how 'needy' my sedan has
become.
Looking over the service records, I cannot believe how much money has been
spent on this car in it's lifetime, and mostly at the stealership. All the
major stuff has been replaced - rear calipers, rack, pump, window switches,
a window motor, t belt, water pump, crank and cam seals, valves (apparently
the t belt slipped back in the late 90's - work was done at Audi dealership
so I am assuming all was done right- the bill was high enough!)
Car tracks straight and is very stable at high speed - does have a vibration
at low speed, though that I am going to have to look into.
Also, came with a set of brand new studded winters, mounted on black steel
rims, which he bought less than a year ago from the dealership at $70 EACH!
Basically that's it though, one wheel bearing and fix the vibration. There
may be more, I'm going to have a good look this weekend and make a list.
PO mentioned that it is an olympic edition, and it does have the alcantara
seat inserts. Are there any other differences between olympic editions and
non-olympic?
