FWIW, the "road draft tube" system of crankcase ventilation has been banned
on street licensed vehicles since the late 50s, or maybe the early 60s. The
PCV systems of various manufacturers have been designed to keep oil vapors
and unwanted hydrocarbons from emptying into the atmosphere. Audi's system,
like the systems of many other manufacturers, uses intake vacuum to recycle
the vapors. There are filters and metering orifices involved, but the
function is to put them into the intake airstream and not the outside air.
It works, and it's legal. It's also an integrated part of the induction
system. Personally, I believe what you're doing/advocating is illegal,
socially irresponsible, and flat out wrong. But that's just my opinion, I
could be wrong ............... John
"btw i hate how audi recycles blowby
back into the air boot... covering all the intake
plumbing with oil... i just use an open filter
at the crankcase and another at the valve
cover...
i want a catch tank though... like jim green's"
