A good guess is that your 'michellin man' hose has split. Classic
signs of a hose either popping off or splitting.

Remove the hose(two clamps, very easy- save yourself some aggravation
and use a 6mm socket w/driver handle if you have it) and inspect for
splits/tears. They're especially likely to split along the bottom.

If you need the quick "no tools" check, just squeeze the hose in
various places with the engine idling. You'll open up the split(the
splits don't leak much under vacuum, usually) and cause a massive
vacuum leak, and the engine will die/nearly die.
