Any older 4000 CGT can be coat-hangered EASILY.
I can do it less than 15 seconds (when I tried back in college)
...............and I'm an amature.

about the theft, but slightly skeptical. Are you
sure that you can trust this mechanic? If not him, then someone else who
might have had access to your keys from there? I have found my Audis to be
very well protected against theives. On my last one (a 100qa), a theif
tried to force open the locks from all the doors and still failed to get
in. When examining the door internals of my old cgt, it looked very well
protected against "slim-jims" being poked down the side of the window.
