Synthetic oil for I-5s

 My plan was to switch to synthetic for 6 months or so

I heard from my friends at NAPA that once you go
synthetic it is not a good idea to go back to
dino-oil.  I did not push as to why, but it sounds
like a good rule of thumb, stick with what you use and
do not change back and forth.  I know most of us,
myself included use synthetic, but my fiends boneville
has 240K and he uses the cheapest oil he can find, and
does not change it every 3k, its more like when it
gets to it. Mind you he treats his car soft and
gentle, it never sees 3500 rpm.
