Greetings Audinauts,
I've been following the thread whereupon Mike Arman has taken the V8 plunge=
. I think 13 cylinders is a lucky number for old Audis. I prefer 10, myself=
.=2E. but you might want to think about it.
Glad also to see Doyt's reasoning about the 5ktq... these are very hard car=
s to replace, functionally speaking. IMO you're not crazy to keep it.
On my Audi front: The CGT is daily driven once more. It's cool having a bla=
ck GT with red interior parked next to another one (roommate's daily driver=
-red with black hood) on the driveway, esp. when considering how few of the=
se are around.
I have been an Audifan in two waves; First when I had a 5kt and CGT in succ=
ession from 1/96 to 6/00- then picked the torch back up with the purchase o=
f a white 5ktq in May 2002. That one is sitting engineless, with most of th=
e interior pulled out (the car was just too cosmetically thrashed to refurb=
ish economically)... it's going to the junkyard soon (email if you want any=
thing from an early 86 5ktq cheap!)
It's funny that the one that started the second wave never came up to full =
strength- but consider this quattrosis accumulatus:
Between Tom and myself, this house has seen the purchase of 3 Coupes and a =
200q since the fateful day I saw the 5ktq in the paper for $400!
I chuckle at the fact that my 3 favorite cars of the 15+- I've owned, were =
my 5kt 5spd, my '85 CGT, and my 240Z. They must have been faves,
since I'm building *sequels* to each one- and the 91 200q is the same color=
as the departed 87 5kt, as the 86 CommEd CGT is the same graphite metallic=
the 85 was!
But when the 91 200q ex-20V comes back with EFI MC power, the CGT will be t=
he backup. On this list.I've noticed a trend where either big 44s soon acqu=
ire "companion" 85s for backup, or else 4kq guys become Avant TQ folks...
Funny what some cars will make you do. $6K means used Honda Civic for some,=
for me it's better invested in a 200tq, CGT, and 240Z to provide a ride fo=
r *every* occasion!
Regards,
Rob
