im not sure if it was Horch or Audi, one of the two August Horch companies...
but anyways one of the early audi companies was the first company ever to
design cross platform parts so they could offer twice as many models as the
other car companies (ie. all 12 cars use 1 or 2 frames, 1 of 3 hoods, 1 of 2 engines
etc) this was a revolutionary step in the auto industry which audi pioneered.
and dont think this is a bad thing... think of one of the reasons we love our
audis and vws so much... ill just stick a jetta front end on a golf... hmmm this 5000
engine would go great in my 90... hmmm lets stick a 1.8t in everything imaginable.
and august horch was the first automobile engineer to ever specifically try to lighten
his cars... by using alloys for the blocks...
so audi is the first company to ever focus on weight reduction and more specifically
the use of alloys...
two first that are truely a blessing and dont cheapen our cars but make them
more interesting
