Ouch!   Some folks over on the urq list (Martin?) recently completed a
20v-3B swap.  If I were in your shoes, that's what I'd be doing.  A
chipped 3B will provide about 270hp and around 290 ft lbs of torque.
T'would put a real smile on your faces.  Doable by Amateurs?   Hard to
say.  I think you'd probably need some tools and knowledge you do not
have.  The car you end up with will probably be worth whatever you put
into it, even if you had to hire some help along the way.  If you've not
already, post on the urq list and see what they say over there.
