This is a 'stated value' policy. It doesn't have to be an 'exceptional'
vehicle, just one likely to be worth more than the typical example (a clean
69 Camaro SS 396, as opposed to a rusty 69 Camaro with a 6 cyl.) Most
companies require photos to prove the 'current condition' of the vehicle,
then you and them agree upon a value to be pain in the event of a loss, and
you are charged accordingly. They wanted this from me for my Z car when I
inquired about comprehensive for it. It has a few too many dents and dings
and the paint is faded (so I don't think they would return it to good
enough condition to warrant the additional expense,) but I plan on a new
paint job for it soon (I already have the necessary replacement body
panels,) and will have all this insurance stuff done after it is looking
good again.
