Chris, some of that is turbo-lag, some is probably the automatic. It also
may be a problem with that particular car... A chip may be able to help
increase horsepower and torque (not to bring THAT word up again) but I
would think you'd need to be careful to ensure that the car is in decent
enough shape to handle the extra power. I believe there are also
limitations on how much power the Tip can take. 

A manual trans would probably reduce that time lag significantly.
