Over 10 sec for an audi in the US market is not as uncommon as you
might at first think. The 95 A6 quattro automatic was 10.9 seconds 0-60.
(The manual was 9.9, but I imagine 90% of the cars sold were autos.)
They sold a lot of that model year, and sales went up every year.
A new engine didn't arrive until 1998 with the arrival of the
30v engine and the new body style.
