Depends on the wound area.  If it's a finger or something else that bends then a typical bandage is only a temporary fix.

What's the matter with good old fashioned band-aids (tm) and a squooge 
of antibiotic?

I figure if they won't stop the bleeding, it's time for a tourniquet...
