I know of someone in CA that has done this swap. I don't know if he is a lister. I will lookup his email and pass your email address on to him. I agree on the complexity of the stock engine managment. I strongly considered this swap before I did my turbo swap. If I had done it I was going to go straight to EFI.
I have some pictures of this guys swap and I am extremely envious of all the space left in the engine compartment. After putting a CIS turbo swap into my 4kq you couldn't fit a soda can in there and still close the hood.
My information on the wieght difference doesn't agree with you Mike. I had it the other way around (iron I5 heavier than aluminum V8), but again no first hand experience.
As with any 4k swap the engine compartment length gets tight. The V8 is a little shorter (I have the dimensions somewhere) than the I-5. Enough so that a full width radiator can be used.
