80q: lots of oil leaking from PCV hoses... what is going on here?

Hello Audifans,
I have a '90 80q with 193k miles (including a couple thousand track
miles). The engine is still original, and, until yesterday, ran GREAT.
When replacing the valve cover and intake manifold gaskets, I noticed
considerable amounts of burnt oil accumulated in the intake manifold and
pooled inside the throttle body. Hmmm...
After starting the car, oil began leaking at several points on the PCV
hoses and dripping all over the exhaust manifold. This leak didn't
exist before... Compression tests checked out OK, but flow tests
indicated some amount blow-by in 3 cylinders.
I guess bad rings might be causing some blow-by and pressure buildup in
the crankcase. Did sealing up the valve cover and intake manifold
somehow cause higher pressure to build up in the PCV hoses? If so, is
it worth replacing the PCV hoses or are they just going to start leaking
immediately too?
Should I just start looking for a new bottom end?
So many questions - thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.
Regards,
Chris
