Optimat cross-ref for '93 100CSQ?

All,

It's time to replace the battery in my wife's '93
100CSQ.  I've got a gel-cell battery in one of the
other cars and will eventually replace ALL my
batteries with them, where feasible.

Unfortunately, the local battery center claims that
Optima doesn't make a battery for the 1993 100CSQ.  

Now... what I *hope* this means is that there's no
gel-cell made in the same box as the one in her car
now, but that there are other batteries with
comparable electrical characteristics that will fit
under the seat.

So, is anyone on this list running a gel-cell (Optima,
Exide, etc.) under the right-rear seat cushion of your
'93 (or comparable) Audi 100?  And do you happen to
recall the group number?  If not, I'll try the old
measuring-tape routine and see what fits.  (Sadly,
we've already determined that the gel-cell I've got in
a car I don't use often, especially in winter -- hence
the gel-cell -- won't let us screw the seat down...)

Mild Irony: with the "new" Audi flaking out, we've
dragged the '83 Coupe out for Kim to use till we solve
this problem permanently.  Good thing it didn't sell a
few weeks ago after all!  Once again, this car proves
more valuable as a spare car than as the minuscule
pile of cash it would represent...
