metric tools - not so dumb question?

Hi All,

This started out as "tongue in cheek", you better be sure you get American
metric, la de dah.  However, a serious question arose in my mind.  If one
buys, say, a set of metric sockets in countries that are all metric, what is
the size of the drive?  The sockets I have are 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" drive.  Do
the metric country suppliers accomodate SAE sizes?  Before it's said, I know
that the business end is the same...
