I've been away from the list for a while, so please be patient!

I've been having problems with the brakes on my 88 5Ksq. After the car has =
been running for a while (especially on warm days), the brakes start to bin=
d=2E If I continue to drive it, they bind very, very badly. I disconnected =
the ABS box and that seemed to make things a little better for a while. If =
I let it sit for 10 minutes with the engine off, the pressure releases and =
they are good again, but will bind faster than with the car starting from c=
old.

When this occurs, the pedal is ROCK hard. It comes on gradually, and contin=
ues to get worse. The engine starts having to work harder to overcome the d=
rag which makes the brakes worse, which makes the engine work even harder, =
etc... You get the point. Occasionally, you can here a *click* from the mas=
ter cylinder area (not necessarily from the master) and some of the pressur=
e releases.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? I'm in an area of the world where Au=
di parts are quite expensive, so I don't want to just start replacing parts=
unless I have an idea something will fix it. The car is on the verge of be=
ing auctioned off otherwise.

Thanks in advance,
Rob
