If you don't already have one, this may be a good time to get a Bentley
manual. The troubleshooting procedure is quite detailed.
You'll need a hand vacuum pump and a multimeter. Basically, you first
check that the cruise control system has no vacuum leaks, including the
vacuum vent valves at the brake and clutch pedals. Then you go around
verifying all the electrical switches (brake and clutch pedals and the
many stalk switches).
Incidentally, I think I found an error in the schematics for the '87~'88
5kcs. Other models show that the vacuum vent valves in the pedals are
wired in series (must be normally closed). But the '87~'88 5kcs is shown
to have an extra wire that bypasses the clutch valve--very strange.

First on the agenda is getting the cruise control working: it is totally inop. I have searched the archives, but not found any troubleshooting procedures. Can anyone post troubleshooting procedures? I have no idea where to start, and could really use some help. I promise to bring this car back to perfection with your help. :) Any help greatly appreciated.
