CO mixture adjustement, urgent

The car is a 1988 Audi 90 Quattro w/ 188,000 miles, head was machined,
timing belt/water pump/idler/ignition distributor were replaced by us, fuel
distributor replaced by previous owner's shop.  Timing is set to 15 degrees
BTDC, no vacuum leaks, no known electrical problems, all fuses ok, grounds
cleaned up and reinstalled.



Problem we are having now is that it ran pretty good for the first 100 miles
(had new set of plugs), but then when you accelerate moderately the check
engine light will flash on and then off very quickly, like a knock/timing
issue (which made us believe cam or ignition timing was off so we verified
both).  Once and a while the light will stay on for a few minutes but then
go back off, checking the codes while leaving it running returns no
fault/4444.



After spending more time with it yesterday we're convinced that it is
running too rich, it's quite noticeable on the drippy plugs and the smell of
the catless exhaust, although the car runs, sometimes it takes many cranks
to start and will stall 2 seconds after it starts, when it's just idling the
engine idle is a tad rough.



I think at this point we definitely need to examine/adjust the CO mixture to
get this car on the road, we have a multimeter capable of measuring 0-10mA
and I know on my 1991 80Q it should sit @ 0ma but what about this 88 90Q?



Furthermore, we can get some fitting spade connectors to measure the
amperage out of the DPR but after reading huw's website we're a bit confused
on which vacuum lines to block off and I guess we're just looking for a
detailed description on how to adjust the CO mixture on a 1988 Audi 90Q,
many thanks because getting this car running tonight would be excellent for
the new owner waiting for it.
