Sorry for the late answer. Digesting...
Have not seen any answers so here i go.
I used Lexan 3 mm, when i did a cover for the head lens on my Beemer.
Its about 2 inches away from the lamp so i dont know the minimum distance,
thinking of heat. But what about the washers...Dont know the US laws bla bla
But i have used it for over 8 years for now, still going strong :-)
I would go for that. Lexan. Cant be broken...?, easy to shape, kind of cheap to.
