E-bay 4kq: Good news, ugly discovery, one minor q...

I'll echo this. Sometime before Xmas I replaced the front mounts on my 88 Ur
in a hurry one afternoon and a few weeks ago I noticed some 'knocking' from
the front end. Couldn't work out what it was and decided that it HAD to be
the rack. Then I thought that I'd check the castle nut ('threaded bush').
Both were loose by approx 1/2 a turn. Tightened and no knocking since. And
yes, it took about 10 minutes.
Moral - always use the correct tools, saves time in the long term.
Regards,

Javad,
You are jmping the gun here.
Replacing the wheel bearings would not make the strut bearings go bad.
Most likely the small nut/fastener holding the bearing came loose when he
was tightening the big 22mm nut with an impact gun BTDT. This is due to the
rotational difference... tightening one will cause the other to try to
loosen.
This is why it is very important to make sure that either that fastener is
very tight or you use proper tools (allan key and offset 22mm closed wrench
works well).
Before you get a new bearing just take the nut off and retighten that
fastener, can easily be done in the driveway and should take about 10min.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

You need a new strut bearing.
