Hi everyone,

Just acquired an '87 5KQSCT. Rather cool car that I really like. Being an
older car there are a couple of things that I would like to fix. The most
important thing is the bracket and gear that adjusts the belt tension for
the alternator. There are a few teeth on both parts that are starting to
grind/strip away causing a less than tight alternator belt - and the
unfortunate results of a battery that doesn't get charged. Is this item
easily found in parts stores or is this a "dealer only" item? Cost??

The second item is after the car is started (engine cold) and warms for a
couple of minutes, it will die and not start again for about 3-5 minutes.
Once it restarts, then the car is good to go until the car is shut off and
cools down once again. I have seen the OXS light go on 1X but that is it.
I am told from the previous owner that the OXS sensor has been replaced
somewhat recently but I don't remember how long ago that was.

Thanks in advance for any help. I've read through some of the archives and
know that someone has probably had this happen to them before and knows the
answer.

Thanks again,

--David Balbirona
