This item will be most easily obtained from a salvage yard, and in the Denver
area they have plenty of 5k Audis. If you can't find one let me know. It is
definitely a dealer only part and they won't have them in stock, and if they
did you wouldn't want to know the price. Unless the belt is squealing and
slipping badly my guess is that your battery is going flat because of the
voltage regulator, which is not expensive and easily replaced. It is held in
the back of the alternator by 2 screws and can be swapped out in about 5
minutes.
Also check to make sure that the lighted window switches on the driver arm
rest go dark after a minute or so. Do all the window lifts work? The wiring
loom that goes through the drivers side door jam is notorious for shorting
and causing battery drain. Another usual suspect is the wiring loom for the
trunk lid. These flex points can be a probable cause for electrical shorts.
The starting issues will take much more thought and details to resolve.
Others will hopefully chime in here.
Don't be discouraged, you've got a great car. It just needs a little TLC to
resolve 18 years of aging.
HTH.
