I had the opposite problem, the car would sputter and not start during the =
cold, run fine while warm, it was the dual temp sensor. there's readings th=
at the sensor gives out while cold or hot in ohms, there's ranges, I don't =
know what they are, in my case the readings were wrong while the car was wa=
rmed up and in your case while cold... just a thought, it could be other th=
ings. I can't say I've experienced anything to the degree of what you did o=
n that road while driving, but maybe there's some comfort in knowing that s=
imilar things with gauges and electronics has happened to me, and its amazi=
ng how the problems fix themselves sometimes.
