modifying my 200q headlights

I got an idea from another VW person that's done this type of
headlight mod with great results.
I'm going to get projector style headlights out of (most likely)a 3
5 or 7 series Bimmer. I'm gonna cut them apart to remove the
projector portion out of the lamp. Modify my 200 refelctor
assemblies to accept them. I saw a guy with a VW around here that
did just that. It's an early Golf. I can't tell the difference
(behind the wheel) between his lights and my buddy's 2003 Passat.
Same sharp cut off, horizontal line and light where you want it!
Since the optics are in the projector lamp, itself, there shouldn't
be too much of a problem with much, outside of alignment and
distance from the lens. For ease of installation and an oem look,
I'll continue using the stock glass lenses. I figure making new
lenses from Lexan and bending them would be more trouble than it's
worth. Optical grade is needed here. I'm just going to polish out
the lenses. As far as the stock reflector is concerned, no changes
there, because it's going to do little to nothing, compared to the
lamp.
The inner parking lights are going to be my high beam. I'm going to
break the diffusers off, then use some type of driving lights in
their place. I currently use #1156 bulbs as my drls in those lenses,
so I'have to figue out if I'm going to wire in city blubs (likely)
and drill into that reflector, or have a low power controller
running those inner driving bulbs. My question is are there models
made that have adjustable output, or low wattage? I see those GM
cars with 'em, and you might as well use them as headlights.
This is going to be an early summer project. This option is alot
cheaper than going with euros because my friend is a BMW tech and
he'd get to keep the take offs they'd normally throw out.
