bad running after chip/WG spring

May be a clogged cat, or a plugged air filter, or both. And, of course,
check the inside of the cap and rotor, plug wires (also to see they are not
loose in the cap), and plugs.

There are some other points that have given me trouble. I'd also check the
lower wastegate hose.....the short one from the bottom of the wastegate,
that runs over to the intake manifold. That one receives a great amount of
exhaust manifold heat, and it hardens up and then crumbles and gets sucked
into the engine, leaving only the fabric hose cover, which makes the hose
look OK when it is really almost gone. You have to roll this hose between
your fingers to tell if it is still OK. And most people can't even find it,
down behind the windshield washer bottle. Take the bottle out first, and
then roll that short hose between your fingers all along its length.

The other thing I do is use 93 or 94 octane fuel. With 92 octane, you may
be getting engine knock, and the sensor is telling the ECU to back off on
the timing, going into limp-home mode.

While you are looking around, make sure the crankcase ventilation hose
doesn't have a hole in it, down near the place where it is attached to the
cranckcase on the driver side. Feel for a soft spot.

Finally, have you replaced the throttle switch yet? Most of the original
switches are full of little microfractures of the internal solder joints,
and they don't work reliably.

Keep us informed for what solves it.
