I still think you may not be hearing knock, and it may
just be the distributer. When the CIS-III has
something go bad like the knock system, it really
get's pissed, and you would know it, not just notice
it after thinking about it. Go unplug your knock
sensor and go for a drive, you'll see what I mean.
If I were you I would buy a cheep timing light ~$30,
put a fuse in the fuel pump relay, leave it there,
start the car, hook up the timing light(power leads to
the battery, little clamp thinggy around #1 sparkplug
wire) aim it at the hole in the bell housing down by
the crankcase vent, and see what mark shows up on the
flywheel as the light pulses. If it's not showing up,
you have a problem, hopefully you will see the 12, 15,
or 18 mark. Let us know what you find out.
