Pinging NG?

The MTM 1+ program for the UrS cars isn't really too
fond of hot weather, its small intercooler and heat
soak.  Is it possible you simply got a batch of bad
gas?  I put 94 in year round to avoid the ping, but
have to admit, I've never heard it...but I do feel the
timing back itself off on hotter days.
I don't know if this is your problem, but good gas
never hurt anyone...except your wallet.
