Solid State Timer help (NAC)

I am not volunteering but… How much electronics expertise do you
have? Since you posted this you must have a computer with a COM port
and some experience. I have been playing with a new line of parts
trying to talk on an automotive J1850 bus.

Motorola is marketing a line of micro-controllers named NITRON (
mc68hc908QT4 ). They come in 8 pin or 16 pin packages. They contain
an internal oscillator, reset circuit, 4k of flash memory 128 bytes of
RAM, a Timer Interface Module, I/O port and an 8 bit A/D (if you wanted
some feedback on motor current or pressure for example). This would be
ideal for your app.

In single part quantities they cost about a dollar. Motorola is very
actively marketing this line. They have a demo kit that contains an
etched PC board 9 pin cable and Metrowerks development system software
for $25. It used to be free and if you are in the business or know a
distributor I bet you could talk him out of one. I think it is
MC908DEMOqt4. With this you can program and debug (ICE) the part with
no additional hardware through the com port on your PC. Like I say I
have been playing and it took a couple hours to figure out Metroworks
Code Warrior software but it is pretty cool.

Sorry no quick and cheap solution but good luck. Be careful and do a
failure modes and effects analysis.
