towing a 90 Quattro

I talked to the mechanic who has my damaged 1988 90 Quattro, he said I
probably shouldn't put any money into it, and he doesn't want it.  He
suggested I try to get it to an import junkyard in Delta, 60 miles from
the car. Grand Junction might have more options, it's 110 miles.

Is there a way to disconnect the driveshaft so the Quattro can be towed
more easily?  I think I'm going to have a hard time geting a shop to come
get the car if they have to flatbed it all that way.
