So I put the cam in, and it's pretty nice. The first
thing I noticed is the boost takes a little longer to
build, more like 3400 rpms, vs 3000 with the MC2 cam.
The second thing I notice, I can pull the car all the
way to 80 mph in third gear without any loss in power!
I've never been able to get the revs that high
without the power falling off. Hell, that's where I
used to shift for fourth - fifth. Now it just rips to
redline (6800rpms on the rev limiter). The feel of
the car is growing on me, at first I wasn't sure if I
liked it (the new cam), but once you figure it out
it's pretty cool. For example, where I would normally
downshift into third, I can now go to second in some
cases, and the power is just instant. I may still
have some tunning to do that will help the low revs,
but I think it's at about 90% right now. Honestly I
think it's a good thing, with the stock cam, I would
get pretty good boost on every shift if I wasn't
paying attention. Now I find myself driving more
economical, since the turbo takes a little longer to
spool. I'll just have to get some nitrouse for those
low rpms:)
Oh yea, as far as idle goes, I have it at 1000 rpms
right now just to simplify things. It's fine, maybe a
touch lumpy, but hardly noticable. It could also be
the 50# injectors I have to. When all the electical
is on it will pull the RPM's down to 800 or so, and
it's still pretty smooth.
Later,
