Now you're talking my language! Though I'd happily accept a timing chain if the
replacement interval were something like 150k miles.

I'm a little jealous of the very nice diesels that the Europeans have access
to, and according to a recent article I've read, the US is set to begin a push
towards diesel fuel but they first have to clean up their sulfur act and start
using the diesel made from sweet crude. The push will come in 2 or 3 phases,
but the first 2 phases are being fought over; 1. the refineries must supply the
cleaner diesel, 2. the commercial fleets start buying vehicles to use the
cleaner diesel, and 3. with an infrastructure in place, start selling clean
diesels to the general public.

I, too, want an A6 with the latest VW/Audi turbo-diesel, but a 5-spd tranny
should do with all the available torque.
