tips for welding cracked exhaust manifolds?

You need nickel rod or wire to weld cast iron.
Heat the weld area with an oxy/acet torch until it almost glows.
Weld about 1/4 to 1/2 inch then tap the area with a hammer about 10 times.
Continue until crack is sealed.
I welded a Garrett flange to a rabbit exhaust manifold years ago using this
technique with no failures to date.
