Great points Peter!

I'll add to the 'settling' comment. When I did my tranny the car was on the
axle-stands for a few days anyways, so I let it drain over night (if I remember
correctly). After filling it I let it settle overnight. When I removed the plug
in the morning I needed to add a bit of fluid. Not much, maybe 200ml, but all
the same I added fluid.

Yeah that BMW adventure was a fun one...makes me laugh out-loud everytime _I_
think about it! We've had a whole lot of fun with that car...

The funny part about the gear oil is that my skin had never been
softer! 'course, no female would come within a 10ft radius due to the smell...
