Fabulous post, I love the links to the harnesses, especially considering
that sometime in the next decade or two I am supposed to be rewiring an
old truck I own.
Anyway, here is my input, and although it is all based on the subject
line and ignores your cars planned rally application, it may be food for
thought.
What about getting a fusebox and full harness from a 1987 coupe GT?
You'll get so much of what you need, and every wire will be the right
length and have the correct connector on it. This will do everything
but run your engine, basically.
The reason I say '87 is that the wiring and connectors improved by leaps
and bounds over the last few years of type 85 production, but I think
'86 was probably just as good as '87. Look for little rubber seals in
all the little underhood "snap on" connectors.
Relay the headlights and add a few auxiliary circuits to run driving
lights, etc., and you be golden.
