Listers- I sent this to Scott and copied the lists from a yahoo account, but
then realized I had to post from this address to get it to take. I'd gladly
accept all input. Please copy any direct replies to fourwdvw at yahoo.com
Scott, your site tries to make things as clear as possible, but I still
can't get it.
As you suggested, I'm trying to locate my airbag diagnosis connector with
the second inture int the steering section, located at
http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/susp.html#steer
<http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/susp.html> . The specific
pictureferringrefering to is
<http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/ecupic/Airbag_diag_conn.jpg> . I can't find
anything like it, and wonder if your or listmembers can help a little more.
First, I know that it should be there somewhere because (1) Audi shows the
car has had the recall, and (2) one Audi dealer read the airbag codes a
couple of months ago.
Now I have replaced the airbag, and the light does not automatically reset,
and I am trying to use my Hex Vag-com to reset it...but I cannot find the
connectors. Since people have been into them lately, I presume the foam has
been removed, but I don't see anything like your photo in there, with or
without foam. Bentley wiring diagram does not show the connectors, so I
don't know what colors of wires to look for, either.
Here are some specific questions:
(1) Once the foam is removed, are the white and black connectors totally
separate, or are they on the same collection of wires, or , as a third
possibility, are they connected to each other with a third female/female
connector in between ?
(2) Are the wires long enough that a mechanic could have tuckdriver'sehind
the drivers's side knee bolster, instead of in the console?
(3) Wire colors- from the picture I see one thin (brown?)wire entering the
foam to the right. Since there are two spades on the terminal, I presume I
am looking for connectors with two wires running into them- or is it just
one? (
4) At the back I think I see a thicker red wire (or group of wires wrapped
in red cloth tape) exiting from the back. Is that right? Since I know they
are in there somewhere, I know that I can remove the console and look in
every nook and cranny, but I've done that job back when I replaced the heat
exchanger and I really don't want to do it again :-).
Thanks to all.
