A6 instrn light update

Hi,

The gear selector display on my 95 A6q went out this week too.
I had to take the instrument panel out last weekend to replace a
failing ignition switch, and when I put it all back together the
backlighting on the transmission display was out. It seems to
indicate the right gear, it's just that the lights are out.
I thought it worked last week, so maybe my clumsy fingers banging
the panel around to pull it out made the lights go out?
I pulled the panel again to check all the connections -- there's
nothing loose. The lights are really out.

I didn't see the original article to which you replied.
What additional information is available?
