well...i've got that sinking feeling...i've replaced the TB/WP and when i try to start it, the engine turns but doesn't catch; it makes an 'eeeeeeeee' type sound. just a constant 'eee' sound. battery is at 12v. this is an '88 90q NG 5cyl engine.
i need to know if i've made valve and piston intimate buddies .... or if i can just go back and make things right. What do valves meeting pistons sound like?
as for timing, when the cam shaft mark is at the top of valve cover gasket the flywheel '0' mark is visible in the hole through the bell housing, BUT it is below (i.e., closer to the ground) the spot where it was before i opened things up. in other words, it is now just above the bottom of the bell housing hole, whereas before it was about 1 cm or so above the bottom of the bell housing hole. i hope this makes sense, i think i might be only one tooth off, at most two. looking back i got confused by the slack created when changing the direction one rotates the crank pulley.
please respond directly to my email since i'm on digest mode.
TIA,
George Siambis
