Having read the article after the first few letters, I'm surprised you
haven't posted a link to it yet, Brett...

I thought it was pretty inflamatory in some ways, *but*, it did mention
that

1. the defect is attributable to the supplier of the coils (oops, paper
in recycling bin, forgot their name)

2. they (the supplier) are working around the clock making good coils
for current production and to back up replacement needs.  They did take
Christmas day off.

Seems to me, broadly, like a crisis in the middle of being solved.  As
Brett said, a recall at thi spoint would convert the current problem
into a giant disaster.

Whether VW/Audi goes all the way and starts replacing all four, and
generates some kind of rolling recall once they have sufficient stocks
of the coils will be the "big" question.
Seems to me like they should, really, and if they publicize it correctly
it will more than offset some of this early negative publicity.
