Jesse,

I don't think its way out to get around 160 with the proper work. In
fact I expect to get no less than 150HP out of the NG engine I have
been trying to get around to installing for over a year now. The
project keeps getting pre-empted for things such as wrecked avants,
house projects etc.

I don't think you'll see that kind of power on the low compression
motors, but certainly would be possible on the NG/NF ones with proper
breathing, as you allude to a cam, also coupled with exhaust and a mild
port and polish of the head, and if you go for broke, then even higher
gains are possible. I've seen folks getting this HP out of a 2l.NA VW
4 cyl, so certainly a 2.2 5cyl can.

I have some writup on this project I started long ago at:
http://www.homestead.com/ben_swann/myaudi.html

http://www.homestead.com/ben_swann/files/GTQswap.txt

My site also point to others that have done similar conversions and
upgrades. I also have information on cams, and some parts details in
there - just poke around some. Like the project, my web site is in
need of some more work, and is also a work in progress.

You could also consider turbocharging which could cost less if using
used, than Blau, and then that kind of power would be a no brainer -
just a bit more work.

Cheers!

Ben

[Was just poking around Blausports web site. They are claiming 160HP+
in a 4KQ 5cyl, by upgrading the cam, head, TB and exhaust. Does this
seem reasonable to everyone? Or is this a case of inflation to sell
their products?

Lastly, anyone know where i can get information on the various 5cyl cam
specs? Duration, lift e.t.c.

Thanks again,
Jesse Erickson]
