Well, those of you who thought the radiator on my 87 4KQ(t) was the source
of my no heat but overheating problem were correct. Thawed the car out in
the garage and it solved the problem. My theory is that back in November
when I did the turbo conversion I flushed the motor with water. I probably
didn't get all of the water out of the block before I put the 50/50
antifreeze mix in, so it got diluted.
That being said, the radiator is in pretty scary shape (oozes a bit along
tank seam and is disintegrating), so I have decided to get a new one.. (its
got over 200K on it..) Any suggestions? Blau and others seem to be in the
$200-$250 range, however, radiator.com has one for $170. but they offer no
details on construction.
My current radiator has the metal (copper?) end tanks, but some of the ones
list as plastic end tanks. I'm looking for one that will handle the extra
heat of the turbo setup..
Any ideas
Thanks
Bill
