I wanted to take a moment and thank all of you that responded to my concern=
s about installing the head on the turbo motor with the engine and downpipe=
 in the car.

I ended up using the engine hoist to support the head with all the manifold=
s and turbo attached, a jack to raise/tilt the DP into position and Alan's=
idea for the used head bolt alignment pins to get the head all lined up an=
d lowered into place. All in all it was MUCH easier than I thought it was =
going to be.

Another device that helped out immensely was a load balancer on the hoist a=
ttached to chains on the head. With the chains in strategic positions, the=
load balancer let me tilt and level the head via the threaded rod until it=
was perfectly aligned. The head bolt pins (with the screwdriver slot in t=
he top to remove them) really take the guessing out of lowering the head in=
to place and protecting the new head gasket.

I've got pics of the install and those pins if anyone's interested...

Now comes the fun task of putting everything back into the car and making i=
t run again...

Thanks again.
