so, just to let everyone know what i tried again today...
i found that the duty cycle just wasnt really responding to
adjustment w/ the hose from the charcoal canister unplugged from the
intake plenum...
so, i hooked it back up, adjusted the duty cycle to "exactly" spec
(this took almost a full turn of the mixture screw counter
clockwise... i know it was set very rich before...)... so it was
fluctuating at 50% plus or minus...
the car idled completely smooth. there was plenty of power off idle
and at part throttle until about 3000 rpm or so... adding full
throttle to the mix added boost but no real power...
so, boost response is fine... it's just no power... and even with
the greater lack of power at full throttle, it would change depending
on the particular time that i decided to give it full throttle... the
power is NEVER consistent with this thing...
it also surges slightly under full load through the rev band.
i just checked the resistance across the intake air temp sensor...
it's about 430 ohms right now... the car's been parked for about 40
minutes or so...
i just ordered from the parts connection: new wot/idle switch (just
cause... the one i have tests ok, but it's only 45 bucks... so i'd
rather be sure, and i dont know how old the one on the car actually
is), new temp sensors for the isv and ecu (damn, only 4 bucks each,
vs. the 50 bucks at the dealer...), new michelin man hose (i noticed
some signs of aging...maybe SLIGHT cracking in the folds, but no
obvious holes... i remember hearing, though, that even a tiny tiny
hole can cause big problems), and a new o2 sensor (again, no idea how
old the one in my car is)...
i also ordered an air/fuel ratio meter from dawesdevices.com it is a
4 led meter that has a resolution only within .9-1.0 volts... i
remember reading on here that anything less than .9 is pretty much
the same mixture, and that ya want to be working just above .9 or
something... so i thought i'd try this one, since it can read out to
.04 volts... so that's a nice resolution in the important range it
seems...
i know, im a high-maintenance lister... but i guess i created so many
unknown variables by having the head changed, new manifold, new
fasteners, new etc etcetc, in addition to having the car itself sit
for 2.5 years...
once i get and replace the parts that i ordered, and if none of that
helped, im gonna take it to that shop that rick zehr recommended...
i'd just rather get the manual labor over with so that im not charged
for hours of labor for replacing the above stuff....
anyway, thanks in advance to everyone...
