Hi Gang, oh and where's a good place to get an ignition switched power supply for my new stereo

Rob Hodder here. I've been unsubbed since Februa,ry - I originally
unsubbed
due to a looming holiday and then never resubbed till now. Part of the
reason, I'm glad to report, is that the CGT and 100 have been giving
sterling service all of this time!

Good to see the list very much as I left it, lots of familiar names, the
new knowledge base thingy looks impressive, and its good to hear about the
dangers of 600lb GM chickens as my 100 is indeed pearlescent.

Now to the inevitable query. I've lately fitted a new stereo, and guess
what, common ISO connectors are no way a guarantee of compatibility. It
appears that the car side connector has no ignition switched 12V suppy. It
has a constant supply to pin A7 which is fine, but no ignition switched
supply to pin A4, so for the time being I've hard wired the set to pick up
A4 via A7. Can anyone suggest a convenient place in the dash area to tap
into such a supply, rather than actually going all the way to the fusebox?

Also the factory Blaupunkt Melbourne was wired to activate a buzzer if the
drivers door was opened whilst the stereo was on. This no longer happens
with the new set, anyone know how this is usually wired, maybe it's via the
 power control lead?

  As ever grateful in advance!

 rob.
