MIG welding is easiest for amateurs.

Whenever welding on a vehicle, you should always disconnect the battery
ground.  This isolates just about everything from a any accidental
currents going to the wrong place.

If nervous or unsure, it also makes sense to unplug and remove any
sensitive equipment, like ECU's, radios, miniature PC's, etc. - better
safe than sorry.

Although I have done my fair share of on car welding and probably
ignored *all* of these warnings... "btdt" does not mean it was the right
way...!
