Well, hang on, admittedly there are 2 schools of thought here.
Those of us who always immediately fix any problems and fix them right. We
also tend to use a torque wrench and look up the proper specs. We use the
right tools and would never even consider trying to hammer a wheel bearing
in using hand tools. We always use Pentosin to top up the system because it
rarely, if ever, leaks.
Then there are those of us who are just so damn good with bubble gum and
baling wire that it becomes a sort of sick game to see how long we can keep
driving our car without fixing the actual problem. We would consider and
probably try to hammer a wheel bearing in, but would soon find out it was
futile. We have an incredible knack for sensing proper torque by hand using
just a regular ratchet or wrench. There hasn't been Pentosin in our system
for years because we found better things to spend our fortunes on. Now we
use ATF, DTE - 13M, vegetable oil, etc and we don't commit any crimes
because it would be too easy for the feds to track us down by following the
oil trail on the ground...
We all know which category we fall into.
